Yesterday I hosted our monthly Secondary ELA Webinar entitled, "Developing Deep Knowledge with Complex Texts and Tasks." The recording is now available to view.
Webinar Description: Traditionally secondary English Language Arts instruction is organized around the teaching of novels with students completing tasks in response to this reading. In this webinar, we will consider a reframing of ELA instructional planning that focuses on teaching readers how to develop deep world knowledge in response to essential questions through the study of complex texts and tasks.

Just over a year ago, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, its flagship generative AI program. This move opened up a much larger conversation about artificial intelligence in our schools and what effect it might have on our students, educators, and our communities at large. To understand how AI is changing education, we first need to explore what it is and how it has already changed our society. In this presentation, participants will explore what AI is, how it is being used in our society, and, most importantly, how it is changing student learning. We will also explore some options for student writing projects using AI and how to approach using AI as an educator.
