Do you have students who want to create media in a virtual environment? Set the scene, define camera angles/paths, and lighting virtually in Unreal Engine. This free PD helps you be prepared to support students in this environment.
Space is limited AND it's free!
Good luck,

6/12 AV Summer Conference - Audio Focus
Tours of Blue Morph Recording Studio, KOHS, and KPGR, USBE updates, optional YouScience testing, and an audio project workshopping podcasting, live sound, and going live on FM radio.
6/13 AV Summer Conference - Video Focus
Sessions with post-secondary connections (WSU and USU), hands-on equipment tours with industry experts, and a production project that can be turn-keyed into a classroom activity...all taking place at a local studio with a massive cyc-wall.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

The certificate is not the destination — it is just a tool to support their journey.
This information was just released for us to distribute. I hope this transition is smooth and will offer any support I can as it unfolds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) has selected a new platform to support the Professional Learning recording and registration system, Recommended Instructional Materials (RIMS), and Microcredentials (formerly MIDAS). This change will happen by July 1, 2026.
While the intent is to transfer all historic data and information from the current system into the new system, educators may wish to download their current transcript to ensure no data is lost.
Do educators need to download their transcripts?
All historic data will be migrated to the new system. We are not requiring educators to download their transcripts. Educators may download their transcripts if they are concerned about the migration.
When will USBE staff be trained?
Basic initial training for key internal users will be available prior to July 1. Additional training for internal users will be ongoing in the first 90 days and throughout the year.
When will educators and LEA users be trained?
This is to be determined between USBE and the new vendor. The new contract requires a platform help center and training materials that the vendor will develop and assist in delivering. This will be done in ongoing ways over the upcoming year. We anticipate at least some training to be available prior to July 1.
When will MIDAS go offline?
The current MIDAS contract ends June 30, 2026.
There will be an “inactive” timeline for new information being uploaded into MIDAS. This is likely to happen in the month of June. More information will be forthcoming as the new vendor prepares for the migration.
What if a course ends and I need to award credit during the migration?
Credit will need to be approved before the inactive date(s) or after the new system is live. Those dates will be communicated as soon as they are available.
What if I have a course currently open in the MIDAS system?
The course will be available for educators to register for until the inactive date(s). Once the new system is up, educators will be able to continue to register for the course in the new system.
What if I am a current approver in the MIDAS system?
You will continue to approve items in MIDAS until the inactive date(s). Once the new system is active, you will be able to approve items in the new system.
I have more questions…
This FAQ will be updated on a rolling basis. You can review updated information on the USBE website at https://www.schools.utah.gov/curr/midas.
Thanks,

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to reach out and let you all know that Weber school district is looking to hire our Design & Visual Arts Instructor. If you know someone in your network who may be a strong fit, we’d appreciate you passing this along.
Now Hiring: Weber School District Educator – Design & Visual Arts Academy
Weber School District is seeking a design-driven, industry-connected educator to join our Design & Visual Arts Academy within the CTE Magnet Center. This role is built for someone who doesn’t just teach design principles, but actively creates, collaborates, and brings real-world creative work into the classroom.
This is not a traditional, lecture-based teaching position. We are looking for someone who can translate industry experience into hands-on learning, guiding students through authentic design challenges, client-based projects, and portfolio-level work that prepares them for careers in creative industries.
In this environment, students are not completing worksheets they are building brands, designing visual campaigns, producing digital media, and solving real creative problems. Classrooms operate more like design studios, where iteration, critique, and execution are part of the daily workflow.
We’re looking for a practicing creative who stays current with tools, trends, and workflows, and can translate that into real-world, project-based learning. You’ll mentor students, partner with industry, and guide work that results in polished portfolios and measurable skills. You will be part of a collaborative team committed to building a high-quality, forward-focused program that reflects the realities of today’s creative industries.

Weber Innovation is hiring for our Design & Visual Arts Academy a hands-on program where students don’t just learn design, they produce real work across graphic design, digital illustration, photography, and video.
This is a studio-style environment focused on projects, portfolios, and real-world application. If you’re a designer who stays current and wants to make an impact, this is your opportunity.

Subject: [CTE Digital Media] [UCE] UDMAF April 2nd Update
Hello all,
I hope you are all enjoying your spring break or will enjoy your spring break in the coming days
The Utah Digital Media Arts Festival coming very soon.
Please have your students sign up to join us. They can sign up here<https://forms.gle/ysbiK5jH6auvAZVk8> . To make it easier students can go directly to udmaf.org<http://udmaf.org/> and click on the link towards the top of the page.
A preliminary schedule is forthcoming with several new workshops and speakers.
Let’s really push attendance. We’d like to get 650 people on campus. Have students sign up earlier rather than later.
Cost for attendance is $15 and includes food, t-shirt, and stickers.
Sticker and T-Shirt entries are due on April 14th
Submission link will be available soon. I’m testing a new submission portal but haven’t decided if it’s worth the trouble just yet. Only Teachers should submit work.
A quick note for the festival. We will send more specific details closer to the festival. UVU has enacted a few additional security measures that will affect the event. There will only be one entrance open to the Clarke building and that opening will have metal detectors and security. We will need to be prepared to make sure everyone can get in quickly and safely.
If you have any questions or concerns please let me know and as always please share this info with your peers. Not everyone is on the list serve and I’m always trying to add contacts to my personal lists.
Thanks for everything
Rodger Brown
