ARIN also generates a report of Resources without _any_ validated contacts. This is something I run against our tables monthly, as well as the Internet2 tables (for resources in the ARIN region). There?s a fair amount of stale POC data for resources in our community. Another logical conclusion of having outdated - or flat out wrong - information is revocation of resources. You can?t pay the bill if you don?t get it. I come across this, too, though to a far lesser extent. -Chris On Apr 11, 2016, at 12:14 PM, David Farmer wrote: > ARIN released an excellent article about the Importance of Maintaining Accurate Whois Data. > > http://teamarin.net/2016/04/11/the-importance-of-maintaining-accurate-whois-data/ > > With IPv4 run out, there is an increased financial motive for fraudulently transfer of Internet Number Resources, especially IPv4 addresses, and it's a possible DOS attack vector too. The best defence is ensuring your Internet Number Resources have accurate Whois Data. The easiest way to do this is to respond to the Annual POC Validation you receive from ARIN. If you don't remember receiving and responding to this in the last year then it's probably a good idea to double check the registration information for all your internet number resources. > > -- > =============================================== > David Farmer Email:farmer at umn.edu > Networking & Telecommunication Services > Office of Information Technology > University of Minnesota > 2218 University Ave SE Phone: 612-626-0815 > Minneapolis, MN 55414-3029 Cell: 612-812-9952 > =============================================== -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
