I am pleased to advise you of the opportunity to observe a series of distance learning events on Tuesday, March 11, focused on Emergency Preparedness Week. The events center on the disaster in Greensburg, Kansas, where a tornado nearly wiped out a small Kansas community. These events will be available by video via both the commodity Internet and Internet2. Classrooms from the region (Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and North Dakota) will be participating, live, in the events. You can observe them via a live video stream (see below). The regional collaboration is a partnership of state networks affiliated by membership in Internet2: Kan-ed, KanREN, MOREnet of Missouri, EduTech of North Dakota, ONEnet of Oklahoma and the Great Plains Network. The event is planned and organized by the Kansas Association for Interactive Distance Education (KAIDE). The schedule for Tuesday follows. All times are Central. Conference details are available on the Tech Summit website at http://summit.uen.org/ Registration is now open as a link off the Tech Summit website and costs are $75.00. During the summit on Wednesday there are four different AM and PM tracks available for attendees. Please look the schedule over before registering as you will be required to sign up for one AM and one PM track at the time of registration. We still have a couple of slots open for presentations on Thursday so please contact me via email (kquire at uen.org) if you are interested in presenting. Presentations can be 30 minutes to 1 hour on any topics appropriate for the audience.
