All,

Last week, MAGPI announced our joint Internet2 project with the National
Constitution Center, "America Reads the Constitution." Please see our
announcement email below.

Thanks so much for the wonderful response we've received thus far! We're
hoping to have each state (and Washington, D.C. ) represented in this
program. To date, we've confirmed participation from: Arkansas,
California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland,
Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio,
Pennsylvania and Texas.
If your state is interested in participating, *please send me an email
expressing interest by August 4, 2006*. After August 4th, the remaining
participation spots (there are 51 total spots) will be available to any
interested schools on the Internet2 network on a first-come, first-serve
basis.

Thanks so much!

Best,

Heather

Dear Colleagues:

On September 15, 2006, MAGPI and The National Constitution Center will
sponsor "America Reads the Constitution," a unique national Internet2
videoconference event in celebration of National Constitution Day. This
multi-site videoconference program targets students in grades 7-12 and
will use the Internet2 Commons. Participating schools will be assigned a
portion of the Constitution to read aloud as part of this interactive
event. The program is supplemented with classroom ready resources
developed by the National Constitution Center. Since we can only take
one interactive site from every state, all other schools will be able
to view the program via the live webstream and utilize the classroom
resources online.

*MAGPI and The National Constitution Center are inviting each state to
select a representative school to participate as an interactive site in
this event*. For those states without SEGPs, we are inviting
Internet2-connected universities to host a school from their area. Our
vision (and hope!) is to have representation from every state. The only
requirements for participation are: 1) Participating schools must have
Internet2 connectivity and H.323 videoconference capabilities OR
participate from a site with these capabilities; 2) Host sites must
participate in a videoconference connectivity test; and 3) Participating
schools must participate in a "dress rehearsal" between September 6th
and September 12th.

If your state is interested in participating in this event, please get
in touch with me via email by August 4, 2006. I can also be reached at
215-573-6417.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Heather
