What is Utah Green Schools?
Utah Green Schools is an environmental education initiative by the Utah Society for Environmental Education to recognize and inspire 21st century sustainable practices in every facet of the schools in Utah including environmental literacy, health and wellness and building facilities.

Applications Now Being Accepted for 15th Annual Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars Program

Applications are now being accepted for the 15th annual Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) Engineering Scholars competition, which will provide scholarships to students living near Northrop Grumman campuses in ten states around the country - Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Utah and Virginia.

Brochures detailing the eligibility requirements for the scholarship program have been sent to school superintendents within the state. To apply for the Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars program, students must complete the online application available at: http://www.northropgrumman.com/CorporateResponsibility/Community/Pages/engineeringscholars.aspx

Individual scholarships of $8,000, payable in $2,000 installments over four years, will be awarded by Northrop Grumman this spring to qualified graduating high school seniors. Candidates must plan to attend an accredited college or university school of engineering as a full-time student in an approved engineering program. The funds may be used for tuition, books, room and board, and lab fees.

[STEM in ACTION  If you teach Biology,  Environmental Science, Earth Science, or Chemistry this event can help your students grasp Core Learning Objectives.  Four, 5-member teams will be crowned Utah State High School Champions at our Natural Resource Science Contest held at Richfield High on April 21-22.   Teams work together on tests that will determine the winners in Wildlife, Forestry, Soils & Land Use, and Aquatic Ecology.  Our Utah teams will then be given assistance to travel to various parts of the U.S. to compete for scholarships & prizes.
