What: Utah State University Master Naturalist Courses - Endorsement Credit for Ecology Requirement
When: Summer 2013 (see website: for specific course dates)
Resource: http://extension.usu.edu/utahmasternaturalist/
Locations: Available throughout the State, check website for details
Endorsement Credit: The Utah Master Naturalist Courses Meet the ECOLOGY COURSE REQUIREMENT for Secondary Science Endorsement Requirement in Biological Science, Earth Science, Environmental Science

By participating in the Utah Master Naturalist Program, you will be initiating or continuing your own personal journey - a journey that will increase your knowledge of Utah's natural systems, of the plants and animals that depend upon those systems, and our role in shaping our past, in determining our future, and as stewards of the land.

The Utah Master Naturalist Program is a certification program developed by Utah State University Extension with the partnership of over 25 other organizations in Utah. The mission of the Utah Master Naturalist Program is to develop well-informed volunteers and professionals who provide education, outreach, and service promoting stewardship of natural resources within their communities. The program consists of 40 hours of training, with at least 50% of the time spent in the field. Registration fees for the program are $175, and a limited number of scholarships are available.

Please visit the website for additional information about course dates, locations, and potential teacher scholarships. http://extension.usu.edu/utahmasternaturalist/

Please see the attached registration forms for course descriptions, dates, location, and more details. All registration and course questions should be directed to the individuals hosting these courses, so please follow up with them.

________________________________
A couple of items to note:

1. I HIGHLY encourage you to register as soon as possible to guarantee your space in the course(s).

2. In order for these courses to run, they must have a minimum of 16 teachers sign up. If there are concerns about the number of course participants, you will be notified if you have registered for the course by May.

3. If you are in need of courses beyond those listed, I encourage you to start looking at the summer options that are available through University and College Programs. This process can often take time and persistence, so it is best to seek out those options early rather than waiting until the end of the school year.

4. We do offer a free online safety course through the Utah State Office of Education. Please visit the website for more details: http://schools.utah.gov/CURR/science/Safety-Course.aspx

Thank you for your hard work in the classroom.

Sincerely,

Sarah Young
