Good morning,

Here is an infographic to promote CTE in Minnesota. CTE Infographic 2018<http://www.minnstate.edu/system/cte/consortium_resources/documents/2018-CTE-Infographic-Final-with-map-for-web.pdf> (1.66 MB .pdf). We have a huge achievement gap in Minnesota, but yet one of the top ACT scores in the country. Governor Dayton's agenda has focused on education, reducing the equity gap and early childhood education. His term is up in November.

This infographic shows students who take CTE courses graduate at a higher rate than non-CTE students. I bring this to every teacher training and encourage FCS teachers to share with staff, principals, school board members and superintendents. With our focus on work and family and the many state initiatives to reduce the skill gaps in many areas of FCS our programs have gone from shutting down programs to growing and adding more FCS programs. Finding teachers is still the struggle, but we now have a new TIERED licensing system as of July 2018 (attached) which is more flexible to allow more people to enter the teaching field.

Subject: [NASAFACS] Perception of CTE in Your State

Good afternoon,

In Georgia, we are working on changing the perception of CTAE in the state. CTAE is Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education. Do any of your states have promotional materials for CTE? Our main focus is changing the mindset of CTE is vocational education to CTE encompasses so much more than a trade.

On the same note, we are planning to send a survey to see what the perception of CTAE is in Georgia so we can target it more directly. Has any of your states done that as well? If so, could you please share the results and/or questions?

Thanks!
Linsey
