Subject: [NASAFACS] CTE Structure ?

Hello Everyone:

In Nevada we are having a discussion about restructuring our CTE
department. We currently provide services to our LEAs by program area
(Agriculture, Business, FCS, Heath, IT and Trades). We are thinking
about restructuring around the Career Clusters. I'd like to know how you
structure CTE in our state and the pros and cons in your experience.

Are you organized by program area? Yes No Yes and no, we tried to place
like clusters together based on the number of positions held at the
state level. For example, FACS oversees the Human Services, Hospitality
and Tourism, and Education and Training. Whereas, the Arts/AV Technology
communication staff member also has STEM. One staff member has Health
Sciences with Law Public Safety and Security. The AFNR position also has
Government and Administration. The other staff member has Business
Administration/marketing; IT; and Finance. Last team member has
Manufacturing; Transportation; Architecture and Construction.

Are you organized by Career Clusters? Yes

Organizing by Clusters leave the traditional teachers confused as to
where they belong. For example, the FACS teachers work with 2 Program
Specialists and if they are certified in technology, they work with an
additional Program Specialist.

Are you organized in a different fashion? Yes No

Please describe your organizational structure and its pro and cons.

Thank you very much for your help!

Sincerely, Karen
