Subject: [ULN] Fast Grant Opportunity to Improve Library Technology - Apply
on Friday July 20th
To: uln at lists.library.utah.gov

Hello all,

The State Library is excited to announce a one-time funding opportunity for
eligible libraries (including public, school, tribal, and academic
libraries) to enhance their patron technology. This grant is $70,000 and
libraries are welcome to apply for up to $7,000. Some eligible projects
include updating patron computers and monitors, updating printers and
similar resources, upgrading or adding new software, and updating or adding
new devices for patron use. If you plan to update your software, you will
need to pick an option from the list attached to this email.

Applications open on July 20th, 2018 at 9:00 am and close on July 26th,
2018 at 11:00 pm. All funds received from this grant must be spent by
August 31st, 2018. Each funded library will complete a brief survey about
the enhanced technology in the end of September. We are aware that this
funding timeline is very short. If your library would not be able to spend
the funds in this timeline, please refrain from applying.

The application requirements are very simple and the selection process will
be as well. Funding decisions will be based on how old the technology you
wish to replace is, and the size of your operating budget. Libraries with
the oldest technology and the smallest budgets will receive preference. After
considering those two factors, applications will be considered on a first
come, first-served basis.

If you wish to apply for this opportunity, please go to our State Library
grants portal found at uslgrants.utah.gov. If you have not applied for a
State Library grant before, you will need a login to submit the application
which can take up to 24 hours to receive. Click “New User?” and select
LSTA as the type of grant you are applying for. If you would like to apply
for this grant, we recommend you request your login before the application

Please note, if you received a grant in the LSTA regular grant round this
year, you will not be eligible for both the technology enhancement and the
children book enhancement projects so please decide which opportunity you
would like to apply for.

If you have any questions, please contact me at rcook at utah.gov. I will not
be able to respond to phone calls until Monday, so if you would like a
quick response, please email me.

We look forward to supporting some of our libraries across Utah with an
often requested service.

Thank you,

Rachel Cook
