[Library Media] Apply to host Best Buy's Geek Squad Academy

This is a great opportunity to partner with your local public library....

Geek Squad Academy is designed to give underserved youth ages 10-18
opportunities to develop tech skills that will inspire future education and
career choices. This program allows students to envision a future where
they are creators, not consumers, of the technology that powers the world.

When attending a Geek Squad Academy camp, students become "Junior Agents"
and get hands-on experience with some of the newest and coolest technology,
with instructors from Best Buy and Geek Squad. This two day camp experience
will allow students to explore technology like:

   - Coding
   - Programming
   - Film Production/Photography
   - 3D Design
   - Digital Music
   - Digital Citizenship

Application dates

Our proposal system for Geek Squad Academy in 2018 has opened! Applications
will be accepted through February 1, 2018. Notifications will be made to
host sites by March 1, 2018.

Non-profit and other community organizations are invited to apply to host
Geek Squad Academy during school breaks, summer break, or as an in-school
field trip.
Organization Information

   -

   Be able to recruit a minimum of 125 students and maximum of 200 students
   -

   Space Requirements:
   -

      Six classroom spaces
      -

      Large area for student lunch
      -

      Large area for opening/closing ceremonies (can be the same as the
      lunch space)
      -

      Tables and chairs to accommodate 25 students/classroom
      -

   Ensure the facility is available for three consecutive days (one day for
   set up and two instruction days)
   -

   Recruit a minimum of five volunteers from the organization who will be
   responsible for managing student behavior and facilitating smooth
   class-to-class transitions

*IMPORTANT:* To complete the proposal process, please have all of your
facilities information prior to starting. *Once you begin the application
process you must complete all questions. You will have to complete the
entire application process in one session.*

Here's the information you'll need:

   -

   Host facility address
   -

   Number of rooms available (you must have 6 traditional classrooms, a
   large gathering space and a cafeteria)
   -

   Room capacities (must accommodate a minimum of 22 students per classroom)
   -

   Internet speed
   -

   Number of volunteers available to assist with the camp (a minimum 5
   required)
   -

   Projected number of students to attend (a minimum 125 students is
   required)
   -

   Three date options your facility may be available to host an event.
