[Library Media] Thirteen Reasons Why

I have lots of thoughts---I agree that the Netflix series is more intense
and graphic than the book. The book has been on my high school shelves and
been checked out consistently for the last four years without complaint. I
would strongly hesitate to completely take it off the shelf completely
because of our professional commitment to intellectual freedom. Do you have
a review process in place to review materials when things are challenged?
If not, it might be the time to start one. I know parents and
administrators can put pressure on for things like this, but this book can
be valuable for some students. If you are in a middle school, you may be
able to compromise by keeping it in your office or getting a parent
permission form.
