[Library Media] Weeding Question

Friends, my proposal to present about weeding at UELMA was accepted. Are there any particular areas in addition to the "what do you do with weeded materials" that I ought to cover?

Thank you, looking forward to hearing your thoughts

We have done different things with our books after weeding.  The former librarian liked to put them on a cart the last week of school as a giveaway.  Others have been taken to D.I., recycled, or given to students that need books.

This year, I was just approached by a new non-profit here in Enoch (or at least they should be getting their non-profit status this month) called Pets Furever which is a local animal rescue/foster program working with our local animal shelters.  I don't know much about them as I was just introduced to them recently.  They would like to start a summer reading program where children can read books to dogs.  I am thinking of donating my old weeded books to them.

I am allowed to hold a book sale when we have Back to School Night in August and I sell weeded books, donations that are not needed etc. for anywhere from $.25-$5.

Hi All!
I am getting ready to do some more weeding and wondered what you do with the books once you pull them from your shelves.  I know there used to be a company that sent them to third world countries, but they’ve since gone out of business.  If you know of any other companies like that or have any great ideas on what to do with old books I’d love to hear them!
Thanks so much and have a fabulous day!!
