[Library Media] HeLIOS: Narrated Graphic Novel Information Literacy Skills Tutorial

Looking for an alternative way to motivate students in learning how to use
the library and library resources?  Try HeLIOS
<http://helios.weber.edu/> (Hemingway
Library Information Online Skills-http://helios.weber.edu), an online
library skills tutorial designed specifically for high school
students.  Using short lessons with audio narration or text only, this
tutorial assists students in becoming familiar with the concepts and
resources required for college-level research.  It can also be accessed
with tablet devices by downloading the Articulate app.  Some of the lessons
in the tutorial include:

·  Developing a Research Question

·  Finding Information Online

·  How to Use the Library Catalog

·  Critically Evaluating Information.

Additionally, classroom teachers and school librarians can use the
tutorial’s related slide shows to present information literacy skills in
school classrooms. The creation of the tutorial was a collaborative effort
between academic librarians, high school teacher librarians, and a graphic
