Reposted from LinkedIn ALA Group:
In a Virtual Town Hall in October, ALA leaders and the leadership of ALA's Digital Content Working Group (DCWG) discussed the present state of ebooks and libraries and directions for the future.
A summary of the session is available on the American Libraries E-content blog, “ALA Moves Forward in Ebook Arena” http://www.americanlibrariesmagazine.org/blog/ala-moves-forward-ebook-arena . The town hall highlighted ALA advocacy during the past two years, focusing on the intensive engagement with the largest book publishers. Future directions for ALA, libraries, and the publishing industry were also discussed. To keep up on future developments, check out the American Libraries E-content Blog http://www.americanlibrariesmagazine.org/blogs/econtent — the place for major news and developments on library ebooks and ALA.
