GREETINGS!

I thought you and your colleagues may be interested in these short articles
about integrating reading, writing, speaking and listening into the
classroom using some of the materials you may already have. Also check out
the 5 must-have books for Hispanic Heritage Month. Please pass along as you
see appropriate.

And remember... The State Library has a collection of culturally authentic
Latino picture books and YA literature in English (and some bilingual
titles) you can borrow through ILL (Interlibrary Loan). For more info, see
the PDF brochure attached or call me.

A Note from Our Publisher, Jason Low
 *
 Dear Educators,

August 28, 2013, was the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s
"I Have a Dream" speech. Reflecting on how far we've come since then is one
big motivation here at LEE & LOW; reflecting on how far we still have to go
is another.

In his speech to mark the occasion, President Obama said, "*The arc of the
moral universe may bend toward justice, but it doesn't bend alone*." We'd
like to think that creating, buying, reading, and sharing diverse books
bends the arc a little. We're glad you're here to bend it with us.

Happy reading,

Jason Low
