[Library Media] GEN: Participation in organizations

Some of the organizations that have been named have, I believe, come into
existence since I was last assigned in Library Media (in 1987 and for a
short stint in 2002). The ones that were in existence then put on
conferences with up-to-date, helpful information, and all had developed
websites (which would now look somewhat archaic, I'm sure).
Districts and regions also held helpful in-service workshops. We used to
joke about being sent to you-know-where for another workshop, but I never
found them to be a waste of time.
I never regretted a single moment attending conferences, and found their
websites extremely helpful. For all who are involved in any aspect of
school libraries or instructional technology, I highly recommend your
continued involvement.
If you're reluctant, I think if you center on looking for things that will
help the students, things will come forward. You'll find personal pleasure
in sharing ideas with colleagues as well. Thanks.
