[Library Media] Book for troubled student

I teach literature to Youth in Custody and constantly recommend books to my
boys. Books that deal with some of the very issues they are
dealing/struggling with. They appreciate knowing how other kids with
similar problems handle their issues. They also are very big on reading
books with characters they can identify with. These kids need hope and a
lot of it. Much of the current realistic literature provides them with that
hope, so I'd say, recommend away : )
