I am showing my age and my elementary view with these suggestions but how about Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, and Big Red.

Subject: [Library Media] Hunting Books

We have a couple of reluctant readers who are ONLY interested in reading books that involve hunting (but not war). They don’t want “how-to” books, but novels about hunting. I have given them most of Gary Paulsen, and The Last Hunter by Will Weaver. At this point, I am at a loss!! I wondered about Swift by Robert Blake, but haven’t had any other ideas. Do any of you FABULOUS people have any thoughts for me to try?
