Greetings! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 15th, starting at 5:00pm, the Public Education
Appropriations Subcommittee will make their final deliberations,
prioritizations, and public education budget proposal. Please try attend if you
can.

If you cannot attend, please let your school library resources needs be known
via another email on your home computer. You might even share how many students
are in your school and how many books and electronic resources you were able to
buy with your regular budget last year--and what you would buy if you had your
school's share of $1 million (very roughly double last year). Email addresses
are attached.  (With Senator Daniel Thatcher's advice, we are asking for an
additional $500,000 in ongoing funding, totaling $1 million. Originally, in
2006, the Subcommittee funded the request with $2 million.) with the improvement
in our economy, there are a great many requests, so compeition is strong.

Write "School Library Funding" in the subject line.

Best wishes,

Sharyl Smith
