American Association of School Librarians Innovative Reading Grant is designed to support the planning and implementation of a unique and innovative program for children that motivates and encourages reading, especially with struggling readers. Selection criteria include the potential to measure and evaluate a literacy project that promotes the importance of reading and facilitates the learners' literacy development by supporting current reading research, practice, and policy. Maximum award: $2,500. Eligibility: reading programs specifically designed for children (grades K-9) in the school library setting. The program must encourage innovative ways to motivate and involve children in reading. Applicant must be a member of AASL. Deadline: February 7, 2011.
