This Saturday, October 3, Utah Center for the Book is bringing Pamela
Michael, co-founder of River of Words, to the Salt Lake City Public
Library to offer a workshop for educators and scout leaders on how to
successfully implement the River of Words program. River of Words is a
unique program to make students aware of their watershed, and respond in
poetry and art. See details below. If you know any teachers or scout
leaders PLEASE encourage them to attend. It is a wonderful program.
UtahCenter for the Book and the Community Writing Center present a FREE
workshop for teachers, student teachers, scout leaders and librarians
with River of Words co-founder Pamela Michael on October 3, 2009 from
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Salt Lake City
Public Library, 210 East 400 South, in the Level 4 Conference Room.
Pamela Michael is the Executive Director of River of Words and a writer
and communications specialist. In this workshop you will learn how to
successfully implement a River of Words poetry and art program in your
classroom or with your scouts. The watershed education model is unique
and encourages young people to explore, savor, and protect the
watersheds where they live. Girl Scouts can earn patches and badges for
programs related to watershed, such as Water Drop patch and Journeys
WOW: Wonders of Water.
