New Performing Arts Tour Unveiled

The Utah Arts Council announces the new state-wide performing arts tour program, OnStage in Utah!Replacing the Utah Arts Councils Utah Performing Arts Tour, OnStage in Utah!coordinates performances by high-quality, nationally touring groups and is open to nonprofit presenters in Utah communities of all sizes.
OnStage in Utah!is an important step forward for our performing arts program. It is important that we provide Utah communities with access to the best talent available. By partnering with WESTAF, we are increasing the range of programming and level of funding assistance available, ultimately making the program a stronger and more accessible tool for Utah communities, said Margaret Hunt, Executive Director of the Utah Arts Council.
Currently, three tours are forming for the 2008-2009 season. Tours include a performance, one artist outreach workshop led by the guest performer, and a performer-specific marketing package featuring posters and press templates. Tour funding assistance is also available.
OnStage in Utah!participation fees operate on a sliding scale based on the Annual Presenter Budget of the sponsoring nonprofit when the budget is below $25,000. Organizations with a budget higher than $25,000 are still eligible to participate in the Tour, however, financial assistance from the Utah Arts Council is not available. Additional funding is available in the form of a grant through the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF)s TourWest program. TourWest grants are available in amounts up to $2,500. Grant applications are due April 1, 2008. The forms are available at http://westaf.org/prog-grants.php . WESTAF Grant writing assistance is available from the Utah Arts Council.
In order for a tour to be finalized, each tour must have at least three venues confirmed. To register your organization as an interested presenter, or to request grant writing assistance, contact Jason Bowcutt at jbowcutt at utah.gov, call 801.236.7554, or visit www.art.utah.gov .
