Call for Picturing America Judges

A larger than anticipated number of applications have been received for
"Picturing America" - a pilot program of the National Endowment for the
Humanities (NEH) We the People project, conducted in cooperation with
the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office. We need
more K-12 school librarians to serve as volunteer reviewers!

To be considered to serve as a Picturing America judge, please email a
resume or brief bio to lcastle@ala.org as soon as possible. Only K-12
school librarians/media specialists employed with schools that have not
applied for a Picturing America grant are eligible to serve.
Judges will be asked to review a maximum of 50 applications between
March 20 and April 9. Each application will take approximately 3-5
minutes to review via a password protected Web site. All reviews must be
completed by April 9.

Because this pilot program will impact 500 schools across the country,
we hope to have school librarians integrally involved in the selection
process. To find out more about Picturing America, visit
