I'm in the process of building my site as well. It has definitely
been a lot of work, but a lot of fun. (http://www.nsummit.k12.ut.us/
Highschool_root/html/Library/Library.html).

In doing some research, one thing that caught my attention was to not
put general sites on like ESPN (I did) or general ones that the kids
are going to visit any way. The sites we should have are ones that
are more difficult to find or ones that lead our students to serious
research. I also have my teachers offering me sites that they have
found to be beneficial to them. The areas on my Research Links page
that have a lot of links are those areas that I've had students
working in lately. I'm slowly getting to the others as well.

On another note, I try to steer my students clear of sites like
Wikipedia for their information. While Wikipedia does have some
valid information, it is too easy for anyone to put information onto
a topic -- as my students have discovered with some of their research
for FFA. I've even had a couple of characters get into some trouble
with randomly inserting false information on various Wikipedia
entries. Just a thought.

Barbara
