To all Licensed Educators
If you have checked your CACTUS records lately and seen that your
Library Media certification has expired. DO NOT Panic!!! I have
received several emails from concerned Library Media personnel. Here is
the explanation. =20
There have been changes to the Library Media certification. Library
Media used to be an Area of Concentration, it has now been changed to an
endorsement with the same K-12 validity. All old Library Media areas
of concentration have automatically been expired.
If you had a Library Media area of concentration on your Educator
License it has been changed to a Library Media endorsement and is
attached to an Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, Secondary and
Special Education License Areas of Concentration and has no expiration
date by itself. If your License is allowed to expire then all license
areas of concentration and the endorsements attached to the License will
also become invalid (expire).
All areas of concentration and endorsements are renewed at the same time
as the License. Hopefully this will help calm your fears and
frustrations.
