The Utah Library Media Supervisors Association is
pleased to announce the second and third training sessions for 2005 as
part of the LSTA grant, "Meeting the Challenge: training for school
library media staff".=20

Beginning Collection Development will be offered to
library aides working in public, and charter school libraries. This
training will focus on the basics of collection analysis, weeding, and
where to go to purchase the best material. The instructor is highly
enthusiastic and experienced, and will offer an excellent overview of
this important aspect of library services. It will be held at the Snow
College South Campus Library in Richfield on April 8, at 9:00 a.m.=20

Public Relations for the School Library Media Center
will be the final training session that will be offered this year. It is
offered to certified library teachers only. Su Eckhardt, a district
library media specialist, from the Cherry Creek Schools in Centennial,
Colorado, will be conducting this session. She is active in the Power
Library Project in Colorado and her library media center was named the
outstanding media center in the country. This project is designed to
bring recognition to the role that school library media programs and
staff play in promoting student achievement. This training will be held
April 15, at the Horizonte School. The session will begin at 9:00 a.m.=20

A reservation is required for both sessions. The cost
for each session is $10.00. Lunch will be provided. Registration
brochures will be sent to each school. For more information contact Nan
Allsen at 435-462-2452 or nan@nsanpete.k12.ut.us=20
