"Scores for students at Wayne Central High School near Rochester, N.Y.,
taking the New York regents exam in history increased dramatically in
one year after the school reworked the history curriculum to follow
Big6(tm) information literacy principles:  task definition, information
seeking strategies, location and access, use of information, synthesis
and evaluation. Before these learning skills were integrated, 58
percent of students passed the exam. A year later, after learning

This course goes beyond traditional library location and access skills
to emphasize the Big6 Skills, a six-step approach to problem-solving
that integrates information search and use skills along with technology
tools in a systematic process to find, use, apply, and evaluate
