Some of you have already received this from Denise, but I wanted to make sure to get it out to as many of the Health Science teachers as possible.
If you are interested, ALL information is listed below. Please let me and Denise know if you are participating.

Dear Anatomy Teachers,

(Please pass along this email to other anatomy teachers whom you know in Utah, specifically, those you'd like to "challenge" to compete in Anatomy Games.)

Thank you for expressing interest in participating in BODY WORLDS' first Anatomy Games, a series of "game-show" style Quiz Nights held at The Leonardo in Salt Lake City on January 30th and Feb 5th. It promises to be a fun and educational time and I'd love for you to encourage your students to participate.

Please see attached flyer for more details and other graphics that will help you promote the events to your classes.

First off, David Morton, Director of Anatomy at the Utah School of Medicine, will be putting together the questions for the quiz nights and would like you send him your course syllabi so he can use them when he compiles the Quiz Night content. Can you send this to him by this Friday? His email is: David.Morton at hsc.utah.edu<mailto:David.Morton at hsc.utah.edu> and I've cc-ed him above.

You have three options for selecting students to compete in The Quiz Night event.

1) Devise a quiz using the list of specimens in the Cycle of Life exhibit (see link below) and or information from the BODY WORLDS education guide. Then chose the top 3 performers from your school. Use the below materials to make quiz questions:
Specimen list:

Or you can use pages from this BODY WORLDS lesson plan:
http://www.theleonardo.org/files/6114/1056/4936/COL_EduGde9-12LO.pdf

If you do this option, please send me a copy of the quiz.

2) Since this is short notice and you may not have time to create a quiz, or use portions of the BODY WORLDS Quiz, simply chose a dozen of so of your TOP anatomy students then draw 3 names and 1 alternate in front of the class. (I know some of you have 2 anatomy classes, but we only have room for 3 students). I want this to be fair.

OR:

3) Host your own preliminary game-show style quiz inside your classrooms to vet students. If you do this, please let me know when you're hosting this, I might be able to attend and give away a couple of free tickets and BODY WORLDS swag and/or have the winners wear the body suits and get their photos taken. (See photo of body suit here.<http://www.24saltlake.com/entertainment/finish-sentence-body/>)

All the students need to be vetted preferably by the morning of the 15th and the 20th of January at the very latest. Please email me the names of the three students who will be competing. Should you discover a student who is really excited about it-- who didn't make it through the vetting process-- and would like to help with promotions of The Games, please forward me their info. I've been assembling a team of students who are helping me with social media, event planning and promotions, but could use a few more.

If Anatomy Games continues in other regions, BODY WORLDS may create an online quiz, but since we're pioneering it here in Utah, so I'm trusting you to choose your students via a quiz or a lottery system that is fair to students.

Only 3 students from each school will go on to COMPETE at the January 30th event at The Leonardo. The competition is free for all your friends and family, but we would encourage students to come attend one of three hands-on workshops taught by local anatomists and doctors. I will send you this schedule-- but the first one starts on the 15th of January at 6 p.m. and will be a guided tour through the exhibit led by Mark Nielsen and David Morton. Anyone who wants to attend will just need to pay the student price to get into the exhibit.

The school teams that win at the January 30th event, will be paired with college teams to participate in the final round on Feb 5th from 6 to 8 p.m.

I am free to come to your schools this week and next to drum up interest and talk to your classes (if you're not too far from Salt Lake, based on my availability.)

Please feel free to follow The Games here: https://www.facebook.com/BODYWORLDSAnatomyGames and encourage your students to do the same.

On the 15th, please take a photo of the winners who will be going to compete on the 30th and post it to our FB page! Also, use the #BODYWORLDSAnatomyGames tag. We want to create some buzz and rivalry between schools! Also, feel free to "Challenge" a rival school to compete by tagging them in a post.

Questions? Concerns?

Let The Games Begin! :)

Thanks so much!
Yours, with a shared love of anatomy,

--
