This new competition is designed to engage student's creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields. Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, this competition is a nationwide event that allows high school students from across the country to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice. Congressman Bob Goodlatte and Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo serve as the 2014 App Challenge Co-chairs. Congressional response to the App Challenge has been tremendous. Together with a small coalition of organizations we have been working for over a year to support the launch of the contest. At the moment over 120 Members of the House have signed their districts up for the competition. But we have more work to do. This group of organizations will form the Congressional App Challenge Coalition, which has been appointed as the official STEM advisor to the House of Representatives' House App Contest. We will be sending out more information about how organizations and citizens can get involved in the Coalition.
