Secondary Math Teachers,

This email contains information about an opportunity to share what you are doing with technology (information)

USBE is looking for teachers who are effectively incorporating technology into their math instruction. They would like to have you share your ideas with other educators via various webinars throughout the school year. Please see email below for more details and application link.

Thanks

Subject: Opportunity: Mathematics Educators and Technology

Dear Colleagues.

We have an opportunity to highlight exemplary mathematics instruction while integrating technology. I would like to introduce you to Melanie Durfee who is a Digital Teaching and Learning specialist at USBE. Melanie has received many requests from the field for examples of high-quality mathematics instruction with technology integrated in meaningful ways. This may look like teachers appropriately using technology to implement mathematical tasks in their classrooms. This could be using technology in the launch of a task, as a way for students to collaborate and share strategies, to collect information, etc.

Melanie is specifically looking for teachers who could host webinars regarding the use of technology in task-based mathematics instruction. She can hire teachers (for the payment of a $100 iTunes card) to present at webinars held throughout the year. The series of webinars are called Take on Teaching.

Interested educators can apply using THIS FORM.<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.tinyurl.com_takeonteaching&d=DwMF-g&c=fGrSkuu3YyS91PacIZP0XfO0GRH7JgL5znLEO6-CQG0&r=hD1RgVtVAfjHqM6ipl7VgIa9sOnyksaDjm7Cex6HZqan_jJHJ-cb-QMyiG7IG6q9&m=i3SlTBbfaVQXlKGxvfync6UKN2HmcXHfSO8Yn46LW10&s=mNqKCQuPv-TPtB1q1uwoJEyOgALVgZXTvWVU-zct2p4&e=> Presentations in which multiple teachers and students are involved are most powerful.

The mathematics content and pedagogy are the most important part of the presentation. If someone has some good ideas but isn’t sure about the technology, Melanie can help walk them through some steps.

Please share this information with educators who could contribute to this body of knowledge. Thank you for your help in spreading the word!
