SLCSD, in collaboration with a grant from the Utah State Board of Education, has an opportunity to provide scholarships for the registration to the Access & Equity, Strategies for Supporting All Students Conference.



These scholarships will be provided to secondary mathematics teachers in Utah. This conference supports the development of mathematics strategies to support all learners in the classroom.

Access & Equity, Strategies for Supporting All Students Conference

  *   June 20 & 21 (Wednesday, Thursday), 8:30AM to 3:30PM
  *   Crystal Inn Conference Center, 818 E Winchester St., Murray, Utah, 84107
This course will help you to create an inclusive and supportive classroom to help all secondary students succeed in mathematics.

You will learn specific strategies to help secondary students:

  *   access mathematical content.
  *   use sentence frames and discussion routines to support academic language.
  *   increase student success and motivation to learn.

Scholarships will be awarded to the first 20 secondary mathematics teachers to apply. No travel or other compensation is included other than the full registration fee. Registration would be $425 per person.

The deadline for  the Teach to Lead application has been extended to May 20, 2018. We have several applications with GREAT ideas and have room for a few more teams.

PoweredBy Teach to Lead Utah is a day and a half summit July 31 and August 1 focused on Equity and Inclusion in Mathematics. A team of up to five will develop an action plan around a problem or opportunity related to equity and inclusion in math. Worktime is interspersed with teacher leadership learning opportunities throughout the summit. Organizers will pair teams with a critical friend to help guide their work.

Your work will focus on achieving equity in mathematics by implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Please select one or more areas of focus for your work from the following sub-categories:

  *   Components of MTSS:
High quality instruction, team-based problem solving, and/or data-based problem solving
  *   Special Populations:
Working with students with unique needs such as poverty, homelessness, disability, and learning English

Summer Math Credit Recovery

This summer, Jordan High School is offering face to face credit recovery classes for CSD students.  They currently are in need of teachers to teach their Secondary I credit recovery courses and their Secondary II credit recovery courses.

You don?t need to commit to ALL of the sessions.  You can just teach one session or you can teach multiple sessions depending on your schedule.

You will be paid for 22 hours a week, at your hourly wage.

Class sessions are a week long, for 4 hours a day.  Please see the attached flyer for session dates and times.
