     * Utah Council of Teacher’s of Mathematics Speaker proposals: Please take a few minutes to send an email invitation to math educators you think would be great and/or would like to encourage to become mathematics leaders asking them to submit a speaker proposal for UCTM. Sessions are 50 minutes long and presenters’ registration fee to attend the conference is waived. This years conference includes Keynote Steve Leinwand (lead author of NCTM’s Principles to Actions), breakout sessions from colleagues, Ignite, dinner, awards, vendors with cool stuff, and more! The best conferences have a wide range of topics, so share what you do and know with others! Of course, if you haven’t also already submitted a proposal, the link to apply is http://www.utahctm.org/presentation-proposal-form.html<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/5fHCN8i6xESyMOyUCqejhOyOrKrhK-YqejhOyyMedETvud79EVhhd7apJ6XXNEVd7aab3NJ6XVEVjs7e8CzATFVYGlxO3sbr05mS1qIa8iFecHjU02rJI2RokgBispmDM04SY_tRxZZ_HYejd7adXZuVt5YsPObZTDTzhPORQr8FGTsjVkffGhBrwqrhdICXYDuZXTLuZPtPo09KuAXjlU03yQvFY9Xelo5RERmHjjOXJoGY3zp2pB4UVYsVtx2TKFTee4qD_8yjUDm7BwliNeJjWsTfiv4qCjqoVd5US4N84zpEw65LQHYjh0J6GRqqvgQgr10Qg21zoEkd40cGHa6PBm53h071cqd40K2MQe40e0pEw6Zb6y15-pcSUUrl8zz>

NOMINATIONS TAKE LESS THAN 5 MINUTES TO COMPLETE (ok, maybe longer as there is one question about why you are nominating that person).

More information regarding the 2015 UCTM Conference: If you haven’t already heard, UCTM is planning an exciting 2015 conference November 6-7th at Lehi High School. Steve Leinwand, lead author of the book “Principles to Actions,” will be the keynote speaker. The Eight Mathematics Teaching Practices with the other Guiding Principles for School Mathematics (Access and Equity, Curriculum, Tools and Technology, Assessment, and Professionalism) are the focus of this year’s conference. Sessions are 50 minutes long and presenters’ registration fee to attend the conference is waived. This allows you to not only hear from Steve Leinwand and other professionals like yourself, but to also enjoy the Ignite session.

Other Great Things Happening in Mathematics Education this Month:

Core Revisions/Edits: The Secondary Mathematics Core Review Draft went before the Board on May 7th. Thank you to those who have emailed saying you would be willing to host. Dates/locations will come out soon, but if you are still interested in hosting, please let me know this week- you just need to provide space and attend. I am looking to be in about five different areas across the state between June 10th and July 15th… send an email if you have a location available.

Thank you,
