Hope Street Group National Teacher Fellows collaborate with state and national leaders, as well as their colleagues, to develop strategic, practical solutions that address public policy challenges related to education. Thank you for distributing emails for summer PD over the past couple of weeks. We have had a lot of response this past week but I am asking?one last time?to PLEASE make sure you sign up and encourage others to do the same. I am asking you to send this email out to anyone and everyone who works with students in mathematics. The TLC-Stat and the Principle?s to Actions courses are starting soon and registration closes on April 21st.  We have close to 200 registrations throughout the state, with both courses having a lot to offer!

The TLC-Stats course includes a progression of learning, great tasks, and information about the revisions of statistics proposed in the Utah Core.

The Principle?s to Actions course is for ALL K-12 educators who work with students and teachers to support student success in mathematics. This course includes tasks, vignettes related to the Eight Teaching Practices, great collaboration/discussion opportunities, and the e-book. This course also corresponds to the UCTM conference theme, with the 2015 Keynote speaker being the lead author of the NCTM book Principle?s to Actions.

Please see below for Summer Professional Development opportunities (and scholarships for participation) from USOE, MVP, and PCMI:


1.     USOE Professional Learning Series (PLS): Secondary Mathematics?if you did not sign up for the Professional Learning Series courses Principle?s to Actions or TLC-Stat but would still like to take the full course that will start during the summer, registration for ?round 2? will open by Monday, May 4th. Want to only do the summer face to face? Registration will also be available starting Monday, May 4th.



2.     Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI)?are you going to PCMI this summer? Please email me if you are attending this event and would like to participate in a scholarship opportunity to help waive costs/fees. This scholarship will be available to Utah participants at PCMI.



3.     Mathematics Vision Project (MVP)?last year, USOE had scholarships available for those who wanted to attend the Mathematics Vision Project Summer PD in Salt Lake. A few of these same scholarships are available this year for the June 15-17 Transformational Geometry PD. If interested, please email me. Coding for Middle School Math Teachers -

This workshop is for teachers middle school math teachers to show them how they can bring "coding" using Bootstrap programming language.
