Subject: Teacher Salary Supplement Program
The Utah State Office of Education (USOE) is pleased to inform you the Teacher Salary Supplement Program (TSSP) is continuing for the 2014-2015 school year. This program was established by the Legislature in the 2008 General Session and provides a supplement for qualifying math, integrated science, and physical science teachers. Based on recent legislative action the administration of the program was transferred to USOE as of the current school year.
In order for teachers in your LEA to be eligible for this funding you must have an individual designated as the contact for your LEA. This individual is responsible for communicating this opportunity to your teachers, creating a login into the system, and providing final verification of data before any funding can be awarded to a teacher. If your LEA has previously designated a specific individual to work with DHRM on this program, their login to the system remains valid on the new website.
There are specific degree majors and assignments outlined as part of the eligibility criteria for this program. We would encourage all math, integrated science, and physical science teachers who think they meet the criteria outlined in 53A-17a-156<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/1jWVIi410SyMyyevo7nodTdETvud79EVhho76QrLL6zAQsEECzBcSztZUQsCzB55xUSztYQsTv73DxNIhHMzkY_OMaJI2RokgBispmDM04Tro5GMExaAUOJfw09JSSW-CM_R-hu7nssuWZOWbMVDCkknT67-mKDp55mVEVhVkffGhBrwqrhdFCXYDuZXTLuZPtPo0c_-rDFfydjemGx-0Ad18l6DSh302o-O88zJKy-Vu_04dA9CkjzCm77mft8fKTeeD7jcGt7j1YE4q0GBytqDQVKuA-8RcCQkPhOesdwDZIj-9Ew6dfS9oQg33qON_G_2pEw2QqAoWGq83rb1It9_E4nY> to apply for this supplement. The application will be available online on October 14, 2014, and can be found at tssp.schools.utah.gov<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/5fHCMUi3zqb2a8VZwttwTsSztZUQsCzB55wsrhK-YqejhOyyqekPqdTTzhOqekkm7zqdTPhPtYseu76N6L2djP_b0GSMblxh2l9NBqv00jtJwmH2y4GjzaQ-00CTrrHWr3_nV5UttNNXHTbEL3CuphhvsovVqWtAklrCzB7BgY-F6lK1FJcSCrLOtXTLuZXTdTdw0VQEJRb4WRfFPsZ9YhGpMSgCpheepostoZQw-XsUWstcOFQtc7OwhE2Gm9RGvjCVWjUzkOrhjd78VMS2vSNfUCy0oQ_oBzh0cdHb7-HY9Cy0bhGhzGFEwdII6Us0A>. As in previous years, teachers will have the option to request the supplement in two payments or in one payment. While the application will be available until close of business on April 30, 2015, teachers wishing to apply for the supplement in two payments must complete the application prior to February 6, 2015. It is important to note that due to budget constraints, deadlines will be strictly enforced and no late applications will be accepted. USOE will be required to monitor the budget closely for this school year. If funds are insufficient to cover all approved applications the supplement will be prorated for all recipients.
Teachers who have previously applied for the supplement will find that their previous login to the site is still valid. Any new teachers applying for the program will be required to establish a new account on the website. If a teacher needs any help applying for the supplement there is a link on the right side of the website titled "Application Help" which will walk them through the application process. If the teacher needs further help, they can contact USOE by emailing tssp at schools.utah.gov<mailto:tssp at schools.utah.gov>. If needed, a teacher can call the USOE general licensing help line at (801) 538-7740 and we will help them through the application process.
Please forward this email to all your eligible math, integrated science, and physical science teachers; especially those who may be new or are not familiar with this program.
We look forwarding to providing support for LEAs as we transition administration of the program. If you or your teachers have any questions at any point in the process, please don't hesitate to contact me.
