Mindy and I would be happy to look over your grant, once it is written, and give you feedback. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2013 - 2014 CenturyLink Teachers and Technology Grant The Utah State Office of Education (USOE) received $60,000.00 from the CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation to award to Utah?s K-12 technology pioneering teachers who demonstrate innovative uses of technology in the classroom. The purpose of the CenturyLink Teachers and Technology grants is to recognize, at the classroom level, those teachers integrating technology into their daily curriculum and to help expand or enhance their students? learning experiences using technology. Applicants are encouraged to create innovative teaching and learning projects and activities that take advantage of today's technology tools and resources to improve teaching and learning. Applicants are encouraged to integrate technology across subject areas, engage students in project-producing events with measurable results, creatively use today?s telecommunication resources, and persuade other teachers and administrators to follow their example. Any Utah K-12 public or private school teacher in a school in a CenturyLink service area is eligible to submit for one grant award. Grant funds may be used to purchase technology and/or supplies, pay expenses that support professional development needs. Grant funds may not be used to pay salaries or to pay stipends. Funds are awarded to the school on behalf of the teacher. All materials and services purchased with CenturyLink?s funds as a result of this award are the property of the school district / charter school. A panel representing the USOE and CenturyLink will meet in February 2014 to determine which applications will be funded. Grant funds must be expended by June 30, 2014. The application deadline for this grant is January 10, 2014. Mini-grant goals: ? improve student achievement using today?s technology ? build real-world team problem-solving environments ? lay groundwork for future technology integration projects ? leverage the use of telecommunications including the Internet Mini-grant purposes: ? recognize and support innovative teaching ? encourage out-of-the-box thinking ? leverage classroom technology outside of the standard ?brick and mortar" resources ? encourage student use of real-world communicative mediums and development of problem-solving skills across the curriculum ? demonstrate technology integration possibilities in strengthening student achievement Grant Guidelines Please carefully read the entire application before submitting your proposal. Application Due Date Grant applications must be submitted by midnight January 10, 2014. Grants submitted after that date and time will not be considered. All grants must be submitted using the online application form. Grants sent via e-mail or postal mail will NOT be considered. Eligibility and Agreements ? All Utah certified K-12 public or private school teachers employed by a school district or charter school in CenturyLink?s service areas in Utah are eligible to apply. (See AppendixA) ? It is the responsibility of the applicant to inform and gain permission from the school, district/charter school administration before applying. ? Teachers awarded the grant agree to provide to the USOE and CenturyLink a status report of the project?s progress or completion by June 30, 2014. ? Previous Qwest Teachers and Technology mini-grant recipients are eligible for this program. ? Applicant?s status as a CenturyLink customer is not considered in this grant review.
