There is some good (and slightly bad news):

Good:
USU has added two classes to its summer Math/Stat offerings:
Math 5710?taught by Dr. Brynja Kohler MTWR 3:00-4:30 PM
Stat 5100?taught by Dr. John Stevens MTWR 11:30 AM-1:00 PM

Slightly Bad:
The classes start TODAY, June 4 (and run through July 18). Never fear, if you decide you would like to register for one or both of these classes, recordings will be made of the first week of classes so you could get a late start and work hard to catch up. I?ve been lobbying for these classes to be made available to distance students for some time, but it was only recently decided to broadcast them starting this summer and even more recent that arrangements were made (like last Friday).

Currently the classes are set to be broadcast to Brigham, Kaysville, Price, Salt Lake, and Tooele, but we may be able to accommodate students at other locations upon request.

Contact me or the instructor of the class you are interested in if you have any questions.

?Well, Canyons backyard?

This summer the Center for Science and Mathematics Education at the University of Utah is hosting a two-day workshop for any interested teachers.

Friday July 6th and Saturday July 7th teachers will have the opportunity to work with Martin Flashman, a professor of mathematics at Humboldt State University.  Friday he will address "A Different Approach to Understanding Functions" great topic for Secondary I teachers (Common Core 9th grade teachers) and Saturday he will be talking about "Amazing Results for AP Calculus".

Both sessions will be held at the NEW Professional Development Center at the Canyons School District Support Services Building (9361 South 300 East).  Food will be provided both days.
