Utah Valley University invites you to participate in an innovative new project scheduled to begin in the 2017 – 2018 school year. This project is designed to increase your school district team’s capacity to work effectively with students with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. Educational teams, chosen to participate in this project, will participate in a series of professional development opportunities focused on learning effective instructional strategies for teaching students with developmental delays in a high quality learning environment. All professional development and materials will be provided free of charge through a partnership with the Brent and Kathryn Wood Foundation!

All district teams will consist of 10 participants and each team will receive:

  * Participation in a 3 day workshop for background on evidence-based teaching strategies
  * 10 visits of individualized on-site coaching and support
  * Classroom materials and curriculum to support implementation of evidence-based practices

As the 3 day workshop may require the need to hire substitute staff, districts may also be eligible for reimbursement of substitute expenses (see attached reimbursement request form).

Training will be provided through a collaboration between Utah Valley University and STAR Autism Support®. For additional information regarding the professional development content or instructional strategies discussed, please feel free to contact Kimberly Laird at STAR Autism Support (Kimberly.laird at starautismsupport.com<mailto:Kimberly.laird at starautismsupport.com> or 503-297-2864).

Please submit your application materials to Lyda Becerra at lydab at uvu.edu<mailto:lydab at uvu.edu> by March 31st.
