I just want to make you aware of a couple New Year personnel changes at USOE so you can update your contacts.
First, I'd like to welcome Garret Rose garret.rose at schools.utah.gov<mailto:garret.rose at schools.utah.gov> as our new secondary language arts specialist. He started work on Monday and is already reaching out to your ELA directors. We're looking forward to some exciting new opportunities for professional learning and contributions in secondary language arts.
Second, it is with sadness that I share that Linda Alder, our Educator Effectiveness Coordinator has chosen to retire and will have limited hours during January before she moves on to new adventures. If you have questions regarding educator effectiveness, you can
contact Jeannie Rowland at jeannie.rowland at schools.utah.gov<mailto:jeannie.rowland at schools.utah.gov> . She is ready to answer your questions and see that you receive the help you need until a new Coordinator of Educator Effectiveness is named. We will be looking for a new Coordinator in this position, so if you know someone who would like to work in the exciting environment at USOE (maybe you), keep your eyes open for the position announcement which we hope to post in the next few days.
One thing that seems to be constant is change and I appreciate your willingness to engage with all the staff at USOE to improve education for Utah's children.
Happy New Year!
