Curriculum Directors;

Recently some concerns have been registered to the Utah State Office of Education regarding the display of foreign flags in Utah classrooms. Although there is currently no board policy or state code regarding such displays, please review the federal guidelines for displaying flags found at http://www.senate.gov/reference/resources/pdf/RL30243.pdf. These guidelines provide information on the appropriate respect for the flag of the United States and should be followed in Utah classrooms. Until such time as the Board of Education completes a rule please work with teachers where the curriculum supports the display of flags of other nations to ensure the proper display of the flag of the United States.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
