Subject: Interventions for Reading Difficulties Pilot Program Grant Application
Today, we are releasing the grant application for LEAs interested in participating in the Interventions for Reading Difficulties Pilot Program that was passed during the 2015 Legislative session. The purposes of the pilot program are to provide professional development for educators and literacy interventions to children in kindergarten through grade five who are at-risk for or experiencing reading difficulties, including dyslexia. The legislation requires applications to:
(1) Use an Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework for integrating assessment and intervention in order to provide high-quality, effective intervention instruction and supports aligned with professional development for educators to support implementation.
(2) Implement a program with goals to provide increasingly intensive interventions for students at-risk for or experiencing reading difficulties, including tier II and tier III intervention that are explicit, systematic, and targeted to a student's specific reading difficulty.
If you are interested in applying for this grant opportunity, please complete the attached application by September 30, 2015 and submit to Jennifer Throndsen via email at jennifer.throndsen at schools.utah.gov<mailto:jennifer.throndsen at schools.utah.gov>. If you have any questions about the application or related information, please contact Jennifer.
