We are announcing the re-opening of the application for the Smart School Technology Program.
Some of the funds appropriated in SB 284 have not been allocated
The unallocated funds will assist from 1 to 3 schools to join program.
Ten schools have already been selected during the past two years, and are actively participating in this program.
We are seeking schools that can meet all the requirements stated below and could be ready to participate in this program immediately.
SB 284 of the 2013 Utah Legislative Session continues the Smart School Technology program to develop and implement a whole-school technology deployment in public schools.
The overall purpose of this program is to develop and implement tools that improve the learning process for students.
The technology-based tools should support the ability of the teacher to deliver curriculum materials (that are aligned with the core curriculum standards) in a more effective manner that results in increased student achievement.
SB 284 directed the Board of Business and Economic Development to select, through a request for proposals process, a single technology provider with integrated whole-school technology deployment experience to develop and implement a whole-school one-to-one technology deployment plan for public schools.
The selected technology provider is iSchool Campus.
They are very experienced and are ready to work with all the selected schools to implement this program.
SB 284 also requires the State Board of Education to create an application process for schools interested in participating in this program and
to make rules requiring schools to provide matching funds to participate in the Smart School Technology Program.
Participating schools are required to provide matching funds in order to be eligible to participate in this program. The matching requirement is $745.10 per student.
The matching funds will need to be paid immediately upon selection to participate in this final round of selected schools.
To apply to participate in this program, please complete the application at this web address:
Applications must be completed by 5:00 PM MDT on Friday, October 10, 2014.
Thank you for your re-consideration of this program.
