The STEM Action Center is pleased to announce a new program to support High School Certifications. This Grant will provide funding to individual schools or districts to develop, implement, or enhance high school educational programs that are responsive to regional and statewide industry needs. The High School Student STEM Certification Grant has been created to address the following opportunity:
Create new STEM and/or STEM-related certificate programs or increase the capacity or add function to an existing STEM and/or STEM-related certification program. The applications shall address the following concerns:
• Prepare high school students to be job ready for available STEM and/or STEM-related positions of employment
• Upon completion of the certification program the student shall gain an industry-recognized STEM or STEM-related certification
The grantee may partner with one or more of the following entities: a Utah College of Applied Technology college campus, Salt Lake Community College, Snow College or a private sector employer.
A webinar is scheduled for Tuesday August 26, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. to announce the grant and to respond to questions about this program. Additional Information and the actual application will be available at: http://stem.utah.gov/for-educators/grant-opportunities/high-school-stem-certification/
The webinar will be hosted using Adobe Connect visit http://connect.schools.utah.gov/stem and login as a Guest to access the event. A computer with audio will be required as there is no call in number.
