Jerusalem Youth Address War and Peace in "Promises"

In partnership with the Middle East Center, KUED will host a
screening of P.O.V. "Promises" on Thursday, December 6, from
4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Hinckley Institute. The film, which
explores the everyday lives of seven Israeli and Palestinian
children living in and around Jerusalem, offers unique insight
into a bitter and complex struggle from the point of view of those
who will inherit it. The children's detailed and intimate accounts
offer personal, emotional, and sometimes humorous insight into
their views on war, peace, and simply growing up.

Following the screening will be a panel discussion.

"The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a complicated matter, like
most international struggles today," says Larry S. Smith, general
manager of KUED. "We hope that the screening of "Promises," in
addition to the panel discussion, will provide a different
perspective and increase public understanding of the ongoing
tensions in the Middle East."

The Hinckley Institute of Politics in located on the University of
Utah campus in Orson Spencer Hall, just south of the A. Ray Olpin
Student Union. Refreshments will be served.

"Promises" makes its broadcast premiere on Thursday, December 13
at 9:00 p.m. on KUED-7.
