To everyone, (feel free to share this resource)
I wish you and your students the best as the weather turns colder and the days grow shorter. It is sometimes called "the most wonderful time of the year" but that is not always
true for everyone. As a recent classroom teacher, I remember well the diversity of trauma and support that students may need, even when not faced with peer suicides,
daily social media attacks, rifts between family and friends caused by divisive rhetoric, etc. Hopefully your classrooms are a safe space for them to be free from these pressures and perils. This free (through the end of 2025) course was designed to equip
you with the tools and understanding needed to respond compassionately and effectively to trauma in educational settings. The details are in the included email below from the Director of CTE at UVU. Also remember that you can log the hours spent on the course
toward your relicensure hours and LEA PD goals.
"In light of the recent tragic events on our Utah Valley University campus, we are reminded of the critical need to support students and educators as they recover from trauma. Over a year ago, UVU’s Professional Education team launched a course titled “Trauma-Informed
Student Support”, designed to equip educators with the tools and understanding needed to respond compassionately and effectively to trauma in educational settings.
Due to a significant recent increase in enrollments and recognizing the emotional impact events like this have across our communities, we are offering this course
free of charge to all local educators—including those in K-12, colleges, and universities—through the end of 2025.
