Dear CTE Teachers,
At the recent Summer Conferences, we presented the finalized the Utah Durable Skills – critical abilities that go beyond technical expertise. As we move forward, each month we'll be sharing emails on this listserv focusing on one of these durable skills,
offering practical ideas for classroom integration and highlighting their importance.
In today's rapidly evolving job market, technical skills alone aren't always enough. Employers consistently emphasize the need for graduates who can lead teams, solve complex problems, communicate effectively, and adapt to new technologies and work environments.
By intentionally integrating durable skills into our CTE programs, you will:
-
Enhance Student Employability: Equip students with the versatile skills employers are actively seeking.
-
Boost Career Longevity: Prepare students to adapt and thrive throughout their professional lives.
-
Align with Industry Needs: Directly address the competencies valued by today's industries.
-
Support Utah's Portrait of a Graduate: Contribute to developing well-rounded, future-ready individuals.
Your role as CTE teachers is absolutely pivotal in leading this integration within your classrooms. By doing so, you'll ensure our students are not only technically proficient but also possess the invaluable, durable skills that will truly set them apart in
the workforce.
We're incredibly excited about moving forward with this initiative and can't wait to hear from you every step of the way! To that end,
please share how you're already integrating these durable skills in your classroom. We'll be highlighting your success stories in subsequent emails, helping other teachers discover effective strategies for their own classrooms.
Best,
Your CTE Specialists
